Aquarius™ Bright Discharge Base ZF is a professional water-based discharge ink base from Avient Specialty Inks designed for textile screen printers who need vibrant discharge colors without sacrificing the soft feel associated with water-based printing. The Bright Discharge ZF system is formulated for 100% cotton dischargeable fabrics and supports wet-on-wet multicolor printing without requiring flash curing between colors.
When combined with Aquarius pigments and Aquarius Discharge Activator ZF, the base removes the garment's existing dye during curing while depositing the desired print color. Avient specifies a maximum pigment loading of 6%, allowing printers to create intense custom colors while maintaining appropriate print performance. The Aquarius system is also supported by Avient's IMS 3.0 color-management system for formulation and color matching.
The discharge system is especially suited for fashion and retail-quality prints where a soft, lightweight result is desired. It can be printed wet-on-wet in multicolor designs, helping reduce the need for intermediate flashes while maintaining a soft and flexible finished print.
For activation, use Aquarius Discharge Activator ZF at up to 6%. Mix thoroughly and allow approximately 10 minutes for the activator to dissolve, then remix before printing. Activated colors should generally be used within approximately 8 hours.
Important: Discharge performance depends heavily on the dyes used in the garment. Always test the specific garment style and color before beginning production, as not every cotton garment or garment color will discharge to the same shade or brightness.

- For custom colors, do not exceed the recommended 6% maximum pigment loading.
- Use Avient IMS 3.0 when appropriate for Aquarius color formulation and matching.
- For multicolor work, print discharge colors dark to light, wet-on-wet.
- Avoid unnecessary flash curing between discharge colors.
- A single print stroke at medium speed is recommended as a starting point under suitable printing conditions.
- Use approximately 1/16" (2 mm) off-contact.
- Use a water-resistant emulsion suitable for water-based and discharge printing.
- Keep the ink moving during production to help prevent drying in the screen.
- Cure at approximately 330°F (165°C) for 90 seconds, verifying the actual temperature at the ink surface.
- Always test the specific garment before production because garment dyes vary considerably in discharge performance.
