Characteristics
Rutland ES0250 NPT Chino Base / Reducer is a specialty plastisol base designed to produce exceptionally soft-hand prints with subdued, vintage-inspired color effects. It can be printed as a standalone base on dark cotton garments to create soft tone-on-tone and sepia-style designs, or tinted with compatible color concentrates to create a wide range of muted colors.
For custom colors, ES0250 can be mixed with up to 30% EB Color Concentrates and 70% NPT Chino Base. Its low-opacity character allows the garment color to influence the finished print, making it particularly useful for distressed, worn, washed-out, and fashion-oriented graphics.
ES0250 also functions as a curable reducer for non-phthalate plastisol inks. It can be added to mixed plastisol ink to reduce viscosity, improve printability, and encourage greater penetration into garment fibers for a softer finished hand. Using Chino Base as a reducer does not change the normal cure parameters of compatible NPT plastisol inks.
Its excellent printability allows it to pass through very fine mesh counts—up to approximately 305 threads/in. (120 threads/cm)—helping minimize ink deposit and further enhance the soft feel of the finished garment. Properly cured ES0250 prints provide good wash and wear performance.

Rutland ES0250 NPT Chino Base / Reducer is designed primarily for producing soft, subdued effects on cotton garments and for reducing compatible non-phthalate plastisol inks.
When creating custom Chino colors, use up to 30% EB Color Concentrates with 70% NPT Chino Base. Because ES0250 is intentionally low in opacity, the underlying garment color can influence the final printed appearance.
When used as a curable reducer, ES0250 lowers viscosity and helps the ink penetrate further into garment fibers. This can create a softer finished print, but excessive reduction or penetration may increase the potential for fibrillation or fading during laundering.
Using Chino Base as a reducer does not change the normal cure parameters of compatible NPT plastisol inks. Follow the recommended cure requirements for the finished ink system.
For standard Chino Base applications, the complete ink film should reach approximately 320°F (160°C) for proper cure. Verify actual ink-film temperature under production conditions rather than relying solely on the dryer's temperature setting.
Always test the finished formulation on the intended garment for color, opacity, hand, penetration, cure, fibrillation, fading, and wash durability before beginning production.
